Ascenta Health was a Canadian nutraceutical company focused on developing, manufacturing, and marketing omega-3-based natural health products for human and animal health. Founded in 2003 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, the company built its business around premium omega-3 supplements sold primarily under the NutraSea brand, with additional products such as OmegaSmooth. Ascenta emphasized sustainability, research, and non-GMO positioning in the consumer supplement market. In May 2015, Ascenta Health was acquired by Nature’s Way and continued as part of Nature’s Way’s Canadian operations. The business was commercial-stage rather than a drug-development biotech, with revenue generated from marketed dietary supplement products rather than a clinical pipeline.
