Ashford University was a for-profit online university headquartered in San Diego, California, that primarily served adult learners. Originally established in 1918 as Mount St. Clare College, it was acquired in 2005 by Bridgepoint Education (later renamed Zovio), which transitioned it into a large-scale digital institution. The university offered a variety of associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees across fields such as business, education, and health sciences. In 2020, the university's assets were acquired by the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC), a nonprofit entity, effectively ending the Ashford University brand.
