Aspira Biosystems was a biotechnology company based in South San Francisco that developed advanced proteomics platforms for protein detection and quantification. The company's technology focused on high-sensitivity assays to measure protein expression and protein-protein interactions, providing critical data for drug discovery and diagnostic applications. By enabling multiplexed analysis, Aspira aimed to streamline the transition from genomic research to functional proteomics. In November 2004, the company was acquired by Caliper Life Sciences in a stock-for-stock transaction valued at approximately $12 million. Following the acquisition, its technology was integrated into Caliper's microfluidic LabChip systems to enhance their molecular biology and drug discovery offerings.
