Aspreva Pharmaceuticals was a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on identifying and developing new indications for existing medicines, particularly in the area of orphan and underserved autoimmune diseases. The company is best known for its strategic partnership with Roche to develop CellCept (mycophenolate mofetil) for the treatment of lupus nephritis. Aspreva's business model centered on late-stage clinical development and global commercialization strategies for niche medical applications. In 2007, the company was acquired by the Swiss healthcare group Galenica for approximately 915 million USD. Following the acquisition, its operations were integrated into Vifor Pharma, which is now part of CSL.
