Astron Clinica was a medical technology company based in Cambridge, UK, that specialized in advanced imaging for dermatology. The company developed the proprietary SIAscopy (Spectrophotometric Intracutaneous Analysis) technology, which provided a non-invasive way to visualize and quantify skin components like melanin, collagen, and blood up to 2mm deep. Their flagship products, MoleMate and SIMSYS, were used by clinicians to improve the accuracy of skin cancer screenings and melanoma detection. Founded in 1998, the company was a pioneer in digital skin imaging before being acquired by Biocompatibles International in 2005. The technology was later integrated into broader oncology and interventional medicine portfolios.
