Atmospheric Glow Technologies

Atmospheric Glow Technologies (AGT) was a specialized biotechnology and medical device company focused on the development of "cold" atmospheric pressure plasma technology. Spun out from the University of Tennessee, the company commercialized the One Atmosphere Uniform Glow Discharge Plasma (OAUGDP) platform, which allows for the generation of plasma at room temperature and normal atmospheric pressure. This breakthrough technology was primarily utilized for the sterilization of heat-sensitive medical instruments, decontamination of biological agents, and the creation of antimicrobial surfaces. The company's innovations provided a non-toxic, dry alternative to traditional chemical and heat-based sterilization methods. AGT was acquired by Kimberly-Clark in 2004 to integrate its plasma technology into healthcare and professional products.
