Australian Cord Blood Bank

The Sydney Cord Blood Bank (SCBB), formerly known as the Australian Cord Blood Bank, is a premier public cord blood collection and storage facility based at the Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick, Australia. Established in 1995 as the first public bank in the country, it is a founding member of the AusCord national network. The bank specializes in the processing and cryopreservation of umbilical cord blood units, which are rich in hematopoietic stem cells used for life-saving transplants in patients with blood cancers, bone marrow failure, and genetic immune disorders. SCBB is supported by the Australian Cord Blood Foundation, a non-profit organization that funds research into stem cell expansion and clinical applications. The facility maintains international accreditation from the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) and is licensed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).
