Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations

Health Equity Matters, formerly known as the Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations (AFAO), is the peak national body for Australia's community-led response to HIV. The organization provides leadership, coordination, and advocacy to support its member organizations, which include state and territory AIDS councils and national peak bodies representing affected communities. Its primary mission is to end HIV transmission in Australia and improve the health and well-being of people living with HIV and LGBTQ+ populations. Health Equity Matters also operates extensive international programs in the Asia-Pacific region, focusing on HIV prevention and health system strengthening. The organization works closely with the Australian government, clinical researchers, and global health agencies to implement the National HIV Strategy.
