ANSTO Nuclear Medicine (ANM) is a commercial subsidiary of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) that operates a world-class molybdenum-99 (Mo-99) production facility. Mo-99 is the precursor to technetium-99m, the most commonly used radioisotope in nuclear medicine for diagnostic imaging of the heart, bones, and various organs. Located at the Lucas Heights science precinct, the facility is one of the few in the world capable of meeting a significant portion of global demand for medical isotopes. ANM provides a reliable supply chain for radiopharmaceuticals, supporting millions of diagnostic procedures annually both in Australia and internationally. The company utilizes the OPAL multi-purpose reactor to produce these isotopes under strict Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
