Avaí Bio is an emerging biotechnology company focused on developing transformative cell-based therapies for diabetes, age-related disorders, and longevity. Formerly known as Avant Technologies, the company completed a strategic rebranding in February 2026 to reflect its pivot into the life sciences sector. Avaí Bio's core strategy involves the use of genetically modified cell lines encapsulated in protective biocompatible shells to deliver therapeutic proteins directly within the body. Its lead programs include a diabetes treatment aimed at creating a bio-artificial pancreas and a longevity therapy centered on the overexpression of the α-Klotho protein. The company utilizes the proprietary Cell-in-a-Box technology through a joint venture with Austrianova, which shields therapeutic cells from the host's immune system. Currently in the pre-clinical stage, Avaí Bio has initiated the production of a Master Cell Bank under GMP standards to support its upcoming clinical trials.
