Company intelligence / Profile preview
Avantogen Oncology was a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing therapies for cancer, most notably RP101. As a subsidiary of the Australian company Avantogen Limited (now AnteoTech), the firm specialized in oncology drug development and proprietary drug delivery systems. Its lead candidate, RP101 (brivudine), was evaluated in Phase II clinical trials for the treatment of pancreatic cancer in combination with chemotherapy. The company also held rights to a liposomal delivery technology known as Neutral Lipid Medicated (NLM) delivery. This delivery platform was eventually acquired by Bio-Path Holdings to support their antisense pipeline. Following clinical setbacks with RP101 and corporate restructuring of its parent company, Avantogen Oncology ceased independent operations.
