Overview
Avid developed Amyvid® (florbetapir F 18), the first FDA-approved PET imaging agent to detect beta amyloid plaques in living patients, enabling earlier and more accurate diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. Its second major product, Tauvid® (flortaucipir F 18), is also FDA-approved for imaging tau pathology. The company has additional agents in clinical development targeting neurodegenerative diseases and diabetes. Clinical results have shown these tracers can reliably identify hallmark pathologies of Alzheimer's and related conditions, supporting their use in both research and clinical practice[1][3][8].
