Avon Lifesciences is an Indian pharmaceutical company primarily engaged in the manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). Formerly known as Avon Organics, the company specialized in the large-scale production of ephedrine and pseudoephedrine at its facility in Solapur, Maharashtra. The company gained international notoriety in 2016 following a massive drug bust where Indian authorities seized nearly 20 tonnes of ephedrine, which was allegedly being diverted for the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine. This scandal led to the arrest of several top executives and the subsequent suspension of the company's operations and its listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange. Since the incident, the company has remained largely inactive and embroiled in significant legal and regulatory challenges.
