AxioMed has developed proprietary viscoelastic cervical and lumbar spinal discs designed to replicate the natural movement of the human spine. Clinical trials have been conducted for both cervical and lumbar indications. The Freedom® Cervical Disc is being evaluated in post-market settings for safety and performance[3]. The Freedom Lumbar Disc has undergone an Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) study comparing its safety and effectiveness to other artificial discs[3]. No device failures have been reported since market introduction[2].
