Bacchus Vascular was a medical device company specializing in the development of minimally invasive technologies for the treatment of vascular diseases. The company's primary product, the Trellis Peripheral Infusion System, was a pharmacomechanical thrombectomy device designed to treat deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and peripheral arterial occlusions. By combining mechanical agitation with the targeted delivery of thrombolytic drugs, the system aimed to rapidly dissolve blood clots while minimizing the risk of bleeding complications. Founded by renowned cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Thomas Fogarty, the company addressed significant unmet needs in the vascular intervention market. In 2009, Bacchus Vascular was acquired by Covidien for $110 million plus potential milestone payments, and its technology was subsequently integrated into Medtronic's vascular portfolio.
