Company intelligence / Profile preview
Bactiguard’s ultra-thin noble metal coating has been clinically proven to significantly reduce the risk of medical device-related infections. Over more than three decades, clinical studies involving over 100,000 patients have shown reductions in catheter-related urinary tract infection rates by up to ~69% compared to standard catheters. The technology has regulatory approvals from major agencies including the FDA and Japanese authorities. No adverse events related to the coating have been reported. As of late 2023, proprietary product sales were discontinued; now all coated Foley catheters are distributed via license partners such as BD globally and Well Lead in China.
