Baxter Oncology was a specialized business unit of Baxter International that focused on the development and manufacturing of injectable oncology medicines. The company was particularly well-known for its expertise in cytotoxic and highly potent compounds, operating world-class manufacturing facilities in Halle and Bielefeld, Germany. In October 2023, Baxter completed the sale of its BioPharma Solutions (BPS) business, which encompassed the oncology manufacturing operations, to private equity firms Advent International and Warburg Pincus for $4.25 billion. The resulting independent entity was rebranded as Simtra BioPharma Solutions. Baxter Oncology's legacy portfolio includes essential chemotherapy agents such as cyclophosphamide and ifosfamide, as well as the protective agent mesna.
