BaySpec is a private analytical instrumentation company that designs, manufactures, and markets spectrometers, Raman analyzers, confocal Raman microscopes, hyperspectral imagers, mass spectrometers, and OEM spectral engines/components. Founded in 1999 and headquartered in San Jose, California, the company describes itself as a vertically integrated spectral sensing business with in-house U.S. manufacturing. Its products are sold into research, biomedical, pharmaceutical, chemical, food, semiconductor, health monitoring, medical device, and optical telecommunications markets. Rather than developing therapeutics, BaySpec provides enabling hardware and sensing platforms used for analysis, quality control, process monitoring, and field detection applications. The company appears to remain active, although it previously sold its handheld Raman technology and product lines to Rigaku.
