BD BrachySource is a medical technology brand specializing in brachytherapy solutions for the treatment of localized prostate cancer. The core product, BrachySource, utilizes Iodine-125 radioactive seeds that are permanently implanted into the prostate to deliver a precise, localized dose of radiation. Originally a product of C. R. Bard, it became part of Becton Dickinson (BD) following the 2017 acquisition of Bard. In 2019, BD divested its brachytherapy business, including the BrachySource brand, to Merit Medical Systems for $100 million. The technology is widely recognized for its role in minimally invasive oncology treatments, providing a targeted alternative to external beam radiation or surgery.
