Beacon Health Strategies was a leading managed behavioral health organization (MBHO) that provided mental health and substance use disorder management services. Founded in 1996, the company partnered with health plans, employers, and government agencies to improve clinical outcomes and reduce costs for behavioral healthcare. In 2014, it merged with ValueOptions to form Beacon Health Options, which became the largest independent behavioral health company in the United States. The combined entity was later acquired by Anthem (now Elevance Health) in 2020. In 2023, the organization was rebranded as Carelon Behavioral Health. The company was widely recognized for its evidence-based clinical protocols and extensive provider networks.
