Company intelligence / Profile preview
Bear Growth Capital Partners (BGCP) was a private equity firm that served as the growth equity affiliate of Bear Stearns Merchant Banking. The firm specialized in providing expansion capital to middle-market companies, with a significant focus on the healthcare, life sciences, and business services sectors. Notable investments in the healthcare space included Transave, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on site-specific drug delivery, and CHG Healthcare Services, a leading provider of healthcare staffing. Following the collapse of Bear Stearns in 2008, the management team of the merchant banking group spun out to form Irving Place Capital, which took over the management of the existing portfolio. BGCP is no longer an active investment vehicle under its original name.
