Belgian IBD Research and Development

Belgian IBD Research and Development (BIRD) is a non-profit scientific organization dedicated to improving the care of patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) in Belgium. Founded by a group of leading Belgian gastroenterologists, the organization facilitates and coordinates clinical research, including investigator-initiated trials and national registry studies. BIRD provides a collaborative platform for academic and clinical experts to share knowledge, develop treatment guidelines, and conduct high-quality research in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The group is instrumental in evaluating the real-world effectiveness and safety of various therapeutic modalities, including biologics and small molecules, within the Belgian healthcare landscape.
