Bell Microproducts was a leading international value-added distributor of storage and computing technology, specializing in "storage-centric" solutions for the OEM, VAR, and system builder markets. Founded in 1987 and headquartered in San Jose, California, the company provided a comprehensive range of products including disk drives, semiconductors, servers, and software. While primarily a technology hardware firm, Bell Microproducts maintained a significant presence in the healthcare sector through its subsidiary, Rorke Data, which offered specialized data storage and infrastructure for medical diagnostic imaging (PACS) and hospital information systems. The company was publicly traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol BELM until its acquisition by Avnet, Inc. in 2010 for approximately $631 million.
