BELLUS Health developed camlipixant (BLU‑5937), a highly selective oral small-molecule antagonist of the P2X3 receptor for refractory chronic cough. The SOOTHE phase IIb trial met its primary endpoint for efficacy and safety. Based on these results, the CALM phase III program was initiated with data expected in late 2024 and into 2025. A once-daily formulation entered phase I testing. The company was acquired by GSK in June 2023 to strengthen GSK’s respiratory pipeline.
