Company intelligence / Profile preview
Benda Pharmaceutical was a China-based pharmaceutical company that gained international prominence through its acquisition of SiBiono GeneTech, the developer of Gendicine. Gendicine is notable for being the world's first commercially approved gene therapy, specifically indicated for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. Beyond gene therapy, Benda focused on the manufacturing and marketing of conventional pharmaceuticals and Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM) targeting cardiovascular and infectious diseases. The company operated several production facilities in Hubei province and Shenzhen. However, Benda faced significant financial and regulatory challenges, leading to the revocation of its SEC registration in 2012. It is currently considered an inactive entity in the public markets.
