Bene pharmaChem manufactures the active pharmaceutical ingredient pentosan polysulfate sodium (PPS), a sulphated polysaccharide with anticoagulant, fibrinolytic, and anti-inflammatory properties. PPS has been used clinically for over six decades as an antithrombotic agent in Europe and forms the basis of Elmiron®, the first EU-approved drug therapy for bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis. The company supplies PPS to partners globally; its product pipeline includes both commercialized APIs and licensed programs under development by partners such as Paradigm Biopharma, which is running Phase III trials of injectable PPS for knee osteoarthritis.
