Berlin Center

Berlin Center for Gene and Cell Therapies is a Berlin-based public-private translational hub focused on accelerating gene and cell therapy programs from research into clinical development. The center was initiated by Bayer and Charité, later joined by the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité, and is designed to combine incubator space, laboratory infrastructure, mentoring, and GMP manufacturing under one roof. Its offering is aimed primarily at start-ups and innovators developing advanced therapy medicinal products, including gene- and cell-based modalities. ProBioGen has been selected to build and operate the GMP unit, which is intended to support process development and production of clinical material. Rather than being a single-product therapeutics developer, the organization functions as a biotech ecosystem and enabling platform for multiple external programs.
