Overview
Berna Biotech was a leading global vaccine developer and manufacturer with a history dating back to its founding as the Swiss Serum and Vaccine Institute in 1898. It developed over twenty commercialized vaccines targeting major infectious diseases. The company was acquired by Crucell in 2006 but its legacy continues through ongoing programs and collaborations such as those with the Swiss Biotech Center on next-generation COVID‑19 vaccines using advanced VLP technologies. Its Korean affiliate remains active.
