Company intelligence / Profile preview
Bethesda Resources was a clinical-stage biotechnology company primarily focused on the development of retinoid-based therapies for oncology indications. The company is most notable for its role in the early development and intellectual property management of bexarotene, a selective retinoid X receptor (RXR) agonist. Bexarotene was eventually approved by the FDA under the brand name Targretin for the treatment of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL). Bethesda Resources was ultimately acquired by Ligand Pharmaceuticals, which integrated the company's retinoid research and assets into its own oncology portfolio.
