Beyond Resistance

Beyond Resistance is a biotechnology company dedicated to addressing the global threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through the development of novel small molecule inhibitors. A spin-out from the University of Oxford, the company focuses on targeting metallo-beta-lactamases (MBLs), enzymes that render carbapenems—a class of "last-resort" antibiotics—ineffective against multi-drug resistant Gram-negative bacteria. Their lead programs aim to restore the efficacy of existing antibiotics by neutralizing resistance mechanisms such as NDM, VIM, and IMP. By providing therapeutic options for life-threatening, drug-resistant infections, Beyond Resistance seeks to preserve the utility of the current antibiotic arsenal.
