Company intelligence / Profile preview
Biorez (now a part of CONMED) is a medical device company specializing in advanced soft tissue repair technologies. The company's flagship product, BioBrace, is a first-of-its-kind biocomposite scaffold that combines the mechanical strength of synthetic microfilaments with the biological healing properties of a highly porous collagen matrix. This "bioinductive" implant is designed to reinforce tendon and ligament repairs while facilitating the body's natural healing process and eventually resorbing. BioBrace received FDA 510(k) clearance in 2021 and is used in various orthopedic procedures, including rotator cuff and ACL reconstructions. In August 2022, Biorez was acquired by CONMED Corporation for an upfront payment of $85 million, integrating the BioBrace platform into CONMED's sports medicine portfolio.
