Company intelligence / Profile preview
BioCyDex was a French biotechnology company specializing in the development of innovative drug delivery systems based on cyclodextrin technology. Spun off from the University of Orléans and the CNRS, the company focused on improving the solubility, stability, and bioavailability of therapeutic compounds, including small molecules, peptides, and nucleic acids like siRNA. Its proprietary platform utilized cyclodextrin-based polymers to create non-toxic, biodegradable delivery vehicles for drugs that are otherwise difficult to formulate. In 2011, BioCyDex was acquired by PolyTherics, a UK-based specialist in protein and peptide modification, to integrate its delivery technology with PolyTherics' conjugation platforms. PolyTherics subsequently merged with other entities to form Abzena, where BioCyDex's technologies were incorporated into a broader suite of biopharmaceutical services.
