Company intelligence / Profile preview
BioEnterics Corporation was a pioneering medical device company focused on the development of minimally invasive surgical and non-surgical treatments for obesity. The company is most widely recognized for developing the LAP-BAND System, a gastric banding device that became a global standard in bariatric surgery, and the BioEnterics Intragastric Balloon (BIB), a temporary weight-loss device. These technologies provided clinicians with alternatives to more invasive procedures like gastric bypass. BioEnterics was acquired by Inamed Corporation in 1996, and its product portfolio subsequently became a cornerstone of Allergan's health and medical aesthetics division following Allergan's acquisition of Inamed in 2006.
