BioHealth Innovation

BioHealth Innovation (BHI) is an innovation intermediary and nonprofit public-private partnership based in Rockville, Maryland. Its mission is to accelerate the commercialization of market-relevant biohealth research by connecting regional assets—such as federal labs, universities, and startups—with funding, management expertise, and global markets. It provides programs for entrepreneurs including business plan feedback, non-dilutive funding assistance (e.g., SBIR/STTR), entrepreneur-in-residence services, international soft landing support for foreign companies entering the US market, and more. BHI plays a central role in building the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the BioHealth Capital Region (Maryland/DC/Virginia), working closely with major academic institutions (e.g., Johns Hopkins University), government agencies (e.g., NIH/NHLBI), large biopharma partners (e.g., MedImmune/AstraZeneca), venture capital firms (e.g., NEA), and other stakeholders to foster early-stage life science innovation.
