Bioident Technologies was a life sciences company that developed highly sensitive, portable, and low-cost diagnostic systems based on printed organic electronics. Its core technology, the Photonic Lab-on-a-Chip (PLoC), combined microfluidics with organic photodetectors to enable real-time, multi-parameter testing for medical diagnostics and environmental monitoring. The company's platform was designed to move complex laboratory assays to the point of care, offering a disposable and scalable solution for detecting pathogens and biomarkers. By utilizing organic semiconductors instead of traditional silicon, Bioident achieved significant cost reductions and increased flexibility in sensor design. Bioident was acquired by the international technology group Schott in 2008 to integrate its sensor technology into Schott's diagnostic components business.
