Company intelligence / Profile preview
BioImage A/S was a Danish biotechnology company that pioneered cell-based assay technologies for high-content screening (HCS) and drug discovery. Spun out of Novo Nordisk in 1999, the company developed the proprietary Redistribution® technology, which utilizes green fluorescent protein (GFP) to monitor the translocation of proteins within living cells in response to drug candidates. This platform enabled pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to perform automated, high-throughput screening for target validation and lead optimization across various therapeutic areas, including oncology and inflammation. BioImage was acquired by Molecular Devices in 2006 for approximately $13 million, and its technology was subsequently integrated into the high-content analysis portfolio now owned by Danaher Corporation.
