Company intelligence / Profile preview
Biolectron was a medical technology company specializing in the development and commercialization of non-invasive bone growth stimulation devices. The company was a pioneer in Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) and capacitive coupling technologies, which are used to treat non-union fractures and enhance bone healing. Its flagship products, such as the Orthopak and SpinalPak systems, provided a non-surgical alternative for patients with difficult-to-heal bone injuries or those undergoing spinal fusion. Biolectron was acquired by Biomet in 1994 for approximately $100 million, and its technologies were integrated into Biomet's trauma and biologics portfolio. The company's legacy continues within Zimmer Biomet, which formed after the merger of Zimmer and Biomet.
