BioLife Plasma Services specializes in collecting high-quality human plasma at more than 230 centers across North America and Europe. This collected plasma forms the basis for life-saving biologic medicines used to treat rare diseases such as immunodeficiencies and bleeding disorders. Founded originally in the late '70s and operating under its current name since at least the early '00s, it became part of Shire plc before being acquired through Shire’s purchase by global biopharma leader Takeda. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Takeda—traded on NYSE as TAK—BioLife does not develop drugs itself but provides essential raw materials enabling commercial-scale production of advanced protein-based therapeutics worldwide.
