Biological Mimetics

Biological Mimetics is a private U.S. biotechnology company focused on vaccine design and point-of-care infectious disease diagnostics. The company was founded in 1996 in Frederick, Maryland and builds around proprietary platform technologies including Immune Refocusing Technology (IRT), a UVC-based inactivated vaccine platform branded as ultra, and the FAST microfluidic diagnostic system. Its pipeline includes preclinical vaccine programs for polio, Acinetobacter baumannii, influenza, COVID-19, and other resistant or emerging pathogens, as well as low-resource CRISPR/RPA diagnostic assays for malaria, leishmaniasis, HPV, and other infections. Biological Mimetics also works with academic, government, and industry collaborators and has pursued NIH- and DOD-supported development programs. The company appears to remain private and focused on preclinical and IND-enabling development rather than commercial-stage products.
