BioMedExperts was a pioneering scientific social network and literature search platform designed specifically for the life sciences and biomedical research community. Launched in 2008 by Collexis Holdings and acquired by Elsevier in 2010, the platform utilized semantic technology to create pre-populated profiles for over 1.5 million researchers based on their publication history in PubMed. It enabled scientists to visualize their co-authorship networks, identify potential collaborators, and discover experts in specific therapeutic areas globally. The service was a key component of Elsevier's research intelligence suite before being discontinued in 2014 to consolidate features into other products like Mendeley and SciVal.
