BioNebraska was a biotechnology company based in Lincoln, Nebraska, specializing in the development of recombinant peptide hormones. The company was best known for its proprietary Bio-Lead technology, an enzymatic process that allowed for the efficient, large-scale production of C-terminally amidated peptides, which are essential for the biological activity of many hormones. Its primary product candidate was a recombinant version of human calcitonin, which reached Phase 3 clinical trials for the treatment of osteoporosis.
