Company intelligence / Profile preview
Biopool was a commercial in vitro diagnostics company focused on hemostasis, fibrinolysis, platelet function, vascular-system testing, and related specialty reagents for hospital and clinical laboratories. The company developed, manufactured, and marketed assay kits and controls used to assess blood coagulation disorders, thrombotic risk factors, and other laboratory parameters relevant to transfusion and cardiovascular diagnostics. Historically, Biopool also operated blood bank and chemistry-related businesses, with operations in the United States, Sweden, and Canada. The company later became associated with Xtrana and its assets were sold in pieces, including the Biopool Hemostasis business acquired by Trinity Biotech in December 2001 and the BCA division acquired by Immucor. Biopool should therefore be viewed primarily as a legacy diagnostics brand rather than an active independent biotech or pharma developer.
