Company intelligence / Profile preview
BiOptix was a life sciences instrumentation company that specialized in the development and commercialization of Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) biosensors for the drug discovery market. The company's proprietary technology enabled the label-free, real-time detection and characterization of molecular interactions, providing critical kinetic and affinity data for researchers. Its flagship products included the 404pi and 7000 series SPR instruments, which were designed to offer high sensitivity and throughput for pharmaceutical and academic laboratories. In 2016, BiOptix was acquired by Venaxis, Inc., which subsequently adopted the BiOptix name before famously pivoting to cryptocurrency mining as Riot Blockchain in late 2017.
