Company intelligence / Profile preview
Biorex Research was a pioneering Hungarian biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of small molecule heat shock protein (HSP) co-inducers. The company's proprietary platform targeted the cellular stress response to treat metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases by enhancing the expression of molecular chaperones like HSP70. Its lead clinical candidate, BGP-15, was a first-in-class insulin sensitizer that reached Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance. Biorex's research laid the groundwork for understanding how pharmacological modulation of the heat shock response could address protein misfolding and mitochondrial dysfunction. Following its initial successes, the company's assets and intellectual property were transitioned to N-Gene Research Laboratories for further global development.
