Company intelligence / Profile preview
Biorex Research & Development was a Hungarian biopharmaceutical company specializing in the discovery and development of small molecule therapeutics based on its proprietary molecular chaperone co-induction technology. Founded in 1988, the company focused on developing "chaperone co-inducers" that enhance the cellular heat shock response to treat protein misfolding disorders and diabetic complications. Its lead candidates, arimoclomol and bimoclomol, were advanced into clinical development for neurodegenerative and metabolic diseases. In 2004, the company was acquired by CytRx Corporation (now LadRx), which continued the development of arimoclomol for rare orphan diseases such as ALS and Niemann-Pick disease.
