Biorthex was a Canadian medical device company that specialized in the development of innovative spinal implants using its proprietary Porous Nitinol (PNT) technology. The company's flagship product line, the Bio-Truss, featured interbody fusion devices designed to mimic the architecture of human cancellous bone to promote rapid osseointegration and structural stability. Biorthex successfully achieved FDA 510(k) clearance and CE Mark for its products, marketing them for use in both lumbar and cervical spinal fusion procedures. Despite the clinical promise of its biomaterials platform, the company faced financial challenges and ceased operations following a court-supervised restructuring in the late 2000s.
