Company intelligence / Profile preview
BioSafe Laboratories, Inc. was a medical diagnostic company that pioneered the development of at-home blood collection and mail-in testing kits. Founded in 1991 and based in Lake Forest, Illinois, the company was the first to receive FDA clearance for several mail-in diagnostic tests, including those for PSA (prostate-specific antigen) and Hepatitis C. Its products allowed consumers to collect a small blood sample at home and mail it to a certified laboratory for analysis, with results provided via a secure system. The company was acquired by Home Diagnostics, Inc. in 2000, which was later acquired by Nipro Corporation in 2010. BioSafe's technology played a significant role in expanding consumer access to diagnostic screening and monitoring for chronic conditions.
