Biosistemak

Biosistemak is the Health Systems Research Institute of the Basque Country, dedicated to advancing health services research and transforming healthcare delivery. Formerly known as Kronikgune, the institute focuses on integrated care models, chronic disease management, and the implementation of digital health technologies. It serves as a strategic research hub for the Basque Health Service (Osakidetza), aiming to improve the sustainability and efficiency of the health system. Biosistemak is heavily involved in international research consortia, particularly within the European Union, to develop evidence-based solutions for aging populations. Its multidisciplinary team works on health economics, clinical practice guidelines, and patient-centered care strategies. The institute plays a key role in the digital transformation of the Basque health system through the evaluation of innovative care pathways.
