Roche Innovation Center Shanghai (RICS), formerly known as the Roche R&D Center (China), is a major research and development hub for Roche located in the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park. Established in 2004, it was the first R&D center in China wholly owned by a multinational pharmaceutical company. The center focuses on the discovery and development of innovative medicines, particularly in the fields of infectious diseases, immunology, and oncology. RICS plays a critical role in Roche's global R&D network, leading programs from early discovery through clinical proof-of-concept, with a specific emphasis on addressing unmet medical needs in China and globally, such as Chronic Hepatitis B.
