Biothera Pharmaceuticals was a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing Imprime PGG, a proprietary innate immune activator derived from yeast beta-glucan. The company's lead candidate, Imprime PGG, was designed to reprogram the tumor microenvironment and enhance the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors and other monoclonal antibodies. Biothera established clinical research agreements with major pharmaceutical companies, including Merck, Genentech, and AstraZeneca, to evaluate Imprime PGG in various solid tumors. In July 2020, the company and its Imprime PGG program were acquired by HiberCell, which integrated Biothera's staff and operations to advance the development of therapies for cancer relapse and metastasis.
